The PI is Gabriela Weaver, Associate Professor
of Chemistry, Purdue University. She will be responsible for
coordinating all major project activities among the Center
partners and all administrative interactions with funding
sources. She will coordinate activities at Purdue involving
the creation of research modules and the implementation of
the research course. She will be the contact person and liaison
for the external evaluator and the advisory board.
Co-PI Donald Wink, Professor and Head, Chemistry,
University of Illinois at Chicago, will coordinate module
creation and course implementation activities at UIC. Donald
will also be an overall resource person on the theories and
implementation of inquiry-based laboratories. He is also the
coordinator for activities involving the community colleges
and other PUI institutions.
Co-PI Pratibha Varma-Nelson, Professor and
Chair, Departments of Chemistry, Earth Science, and Physics,
Northeastern Illinois University, will coordinate module creation
and course implementation activities at NEIU. She will also
be the primary expert and coordinator on all PLTL activities,
including training.
Co-PI Robert Morris, Professor and Chair,
Chemistry, Ball State University, will coordinate course implementation
and summer research activities at Ball State.
Co-PI Fred Lytle, Professor and Director
of the Harry L. Pardue Center for Advanced Instrumentation,
Chemistry, Purdue University, will hold primary responsibility
for the remote instrumentation network. He will be responsible
for hiring the technical assistant for that aspect of the
project and selecting and purchasing instruments and associated
software.
